Boot Errors

I have a CM4008032. I installed the operating system from windows using Balena Etcher, getting unexpected error45. I then reflashed the operating system using Raspberry PI Imager from windows, then I tried the Raspberry Pi Imager from Debian using your current version 23.01.26.42. Each time I have gotten error 45. The most recent error I am looking at says:

Unexpected error @ 0x0008c38e

FATAL error-code 45"

Thanks for sharing this! I had been struggling to get my new CM4 configured correctly to run with the interceptor board. Finally got everything working, and booting from USB, only to encounter the fatal error 45.

Decided to use my Debian 12 desktop to create the image rather than my Windows machine, and that solved the problem! Not sure what the nuanced difference is with the image creation, but it looks like it is behind me now.

Turns out because I used a brand new cm4 usb wasn't turned on. After flashing a basic raspian onto the cm4 and enabling USB, it now boots from usb

I wanted to give the installer a try but the same happens for me. I wiped the eMMC using Raspberry Pi Imager to bootlader from USB (empty image)

Edit: I did get it to work by flashing the USB from Macintosh instead of Win 10. Strange.

Yes, as noted elsewhere in the forum, for some reason some versions of Windows don't write the image properly. At some point, we'll look into that.

Our recommendation is f215 for the boot order. If you need to change that, you would need a Raspberry Pi I/O board. Our image is not meant to be flashed directly to the CM4. It is meant to be flashed to a USB flash drive. It is itself an installer, so when your system boots from the flash drive, it will ask you if you want to install the OS and walk you through that. You can then either boot from eMMC, eMMC+SATA (OS on HDD or SSD), or in live move (boot from the USB flash drive and run OS from the USB flash drive).

I tested the 3.3V rail and all seemed fined, no drops. So I purchased a Seasonic S12III 500 SSR-500GB3. It has the same error. I noticed that the keyboard lights weren't coming on so I plugged a flash drive with an on lite in and found that I am getting now power to either of the USB ports. Do you have any suggestions?

You tested the 3.3V rail before and after power-on and it is staying at about 3.3V, but it is not booting to the USB drive (our OS installer)? To me, the screenshot you shared a while back shows a USB drive that was not flashed properly. Some users have had issues flashing our image via a MS Windows machine (I don't think we have yet reproduced this issue) and have figured out how to work around this. Search the forums for "Windows" and see if their guidance helps you.

If you think you have a bad board and are still in the warranty window, we can have you send it to us for examination, but I will save we haven't found any boards with USB issues yet. It has almost always been a flashing issue.

I understand and yes, I tested the 3.3V rail it basically sat on 3.3V. I tested it on the new power supply as well. Same thing. The problem is that there is no power to either USB port. I have test multiple flash drives, keyboards, nothing works in the usb ports. Also what is the warranty period? I purchased my board in January of 2022 but due to a bad car accident then a job change I wasn't able to try and set this up until February. As far as flashing issues, I have tried flashing the drive from windows 10 and raspbian. I am sure their is a USB power issue.
