Unable to start

I hooked up the power supply, hard disk ssd ,usb , and cm4 board it came with.

I tested the power supply Seasonic s12-650 and it powered on with paperclip test.

I was unable to hit jumper 3 and 4 on board next to sata0 to power it on.

I used the picture of the cm4 on top of the board on the case to show it's correct position. I saw no screws (am I missing some screws for mounting the cm4? if so, what do I need? )

So, how do I troubleshoot so this thing gets booted?

Hello Robert. As far as jumpers 3 and 4, that is only needed if you powered off and want to power back on, which you can also accomplish by disconnecting the power and reconnecting it. All boards are tested before they go out, so it should work if you have a PSU that has a reliable+3.3V rail. Since you are using a Seasonic S12, I'd expect things to just work. Do you happen to have a DMM to test the level of the +3.3V rail?

Ah, okay, I have a c4 screen now. the C4 needed to be snapped into place. No where on the documentation did it say that.

I get a boot loader screen

Boot mode: BCM-USB-MSD (05) order f2

failed to open device : 'nvme'

Do I need to power the usb somehow? the lights on my usb drive that has the image are not blinking. it keeps on mentioning tftp and 0.0.0.0, can I boot from the network?

Sorry, yes the CM4 board does need to be fully installed into our Interceptor Carrier Board since it is just a carrier board. If you install our OS onto a USB flash drive, it should boot to our menu and give you a choice to install our OS in a few different ways (please see the FAQ for more information). The USB on the board is powered at start-up, so you should be good to go. If the boot order does not include the USB (please see Raspberry Pi documentation), you will need a Raspberry Pi I/O Board to modify this. Some CM4s come setup to include the USB already. You should be able to boot from network, but you will need to consult Raspberry Pi documentation for this.
