How do PoE ports connect to the system?

I've got a brand new interceptor board with an rPi CM4 and PoE board up and running, and I'm trying to understand better how the PoE ports connect to the system. What is the path from the PoE phy to the CPU? Do they connect to the realtek switch at all? It appears that the rtl8367rb has extra interface extensions for RGMII, is that how the PoE ports connect?

Yes, the PoE boards connect to the Realtek Ethernet Switch IC RGMII on the Interceptor Carrier Board. The Realtek IC connects back the to CM4 ethernet connection.

Please see /usr/libexec/config-rtl8367rb.sh for vlan configuration:

# rtl8367rb has 7 ports
# port 0 is the cpu port
# ports 1-4 are the gigabit ethernet ports
# ports 6-7 are the expansion rgmii ports

# ip179h has 9 ports
# port 8 is the uplink port

One more question: Why are both rgmii ports (6 and 7) up, when port 8 is the only uplink port on the ip179h? Is one of those rgmii ports for the second poe board? If so, which rgmii port is designated for which poe board?

This is correct, port 6 is used for poe0-X (J10 on the board).
