Error after install - Can't Access TTY

I imaged a USB drive with the server image for the CM4. I chose the install option, set the password and rebooted the device. Whenever it tries to boot off of the mmc block device the unit fails with the following error:

/bin/sh: 0: can't access tty; job control turned off

It does provide a prompt but the unit is not starting up fully. Any ideas?

Good day. i've got an issue trying to setup the OS. i copy the image into a flash drive, and when i boot the server i get the following error: Trying Partition: 0 , USB MSD stopped. Timeout: 25 seconds. Boot mode: NETWORK (02) order f. NETWORK: mac address... wait for link. LINK ready. i am not sure how to move forward. I've tried the OMV7 image and the Desktop image. Any help would appreciate it. thanks.

I ended up booting into the USB live image and deleted the partitions on the mmcblk1 device. I then went through the install again letting the installer partition the drive again. Seems to work now.

thank you for your quick response. can you recommend a usb live image? i am new to this and just trying to get the ball going. LOL. would i be able to just flash this image normal using pi imager or etcher ?

Hi Jeffsony,

I think you accidentally responded to an old post from Zach (back in May).

The USB Live image he was referring to is the one we provide when you successfully flash our OS image to the USB flash drive. When you boot up your Interceptor Carrier Board with CM4, you should see an option to boot into live mode. There you can use Linux tools to manage the eMMC if you like.

But if you do the install successfully to the whole eMMC (use option "mmcblk1: Whole Disk (##.## GB)"), the automated install will partition everything for you and you shouldn't have to do a thing. We've tried to make this as easy as possible. Of course, Zach ran into an issue, but a reinstall fixed things for him. One of these days I will post some videos just to reduce confusion. Please let us know if we can help further.

good day. Thank you for your reply. i have two cm4 module and both have issues where i can't move forward due to the error i get after boot. i have a cm4 with mmc and one without. The cm4 with the mmc has bootloader: 8ba17717 2023/01/11 with the following error: the only way i can boot successfully is by, flashing the on board mmc using pi imager with the official pi os. its the only thing that actual works. hope this info helps. thanks.
