Cant get Interceptor CM4 OMV image to Boot

Ive tried several times to image a 32gb USB drive with the Interceptor CM4 OMV image, but the OS never seems to boot and I am caught in the boot screen. Ive used balenaEtcher and Raspberry Pi Imager with the same results. However, when I take the same USB and image it with the Official Raspberry Pi OS (both regular and lite) it boots into the OS fine.

This is probably a newbie question, but is there a proper way to image a usb with this image file?

For building the OMV OS, ive really only been familiar with the RPi Lite OS and using wget to grab OMV.

I was able to get it to boot properly by installing on a linux OS. Seems to boot fine now! Thank you!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues. Just a point of clarification, we provide an imager that is a combination of a live boot to our image and an OS (our image) installer. A few things to note that you may have read about in other areas of the forum:

Please share a screenshot or picture of your boot screen when it is failing, so we can see the details.
Sometimes the issue is with a MS Windows system installing the our imager to the USB flash drive. In that case, you could see our FAQ for instructions on how to use a Linux device (like a Raspberry Pi
What image version from us are you currently trying to use?
I don't think this is your problem since you are able to book the RPi Official Image. Just putting it here in case it can help someone else: It could be that the boot order doesn't include booting via USB dongle. If that's the case, you would need a way to update your CM4 module (via RPi I/O Board) to udpate the boot order.

Let's start there and see what you share back to us. We'll get this figured out.

Attached is an image of the boot screen.

I tried imaging the usb drive with RPi imager and Etcher. The image i am using is 913, the latest from the site. If Windows is the issue, what am I losing if I dont use the axzez OMV image, and instead build the standard route with the official RPi OS? Id be suprised if it was windows, because it seems so many people arent having this boot problem.

I havent been able to find the installer you are talking about on the site, maybe im missing it?

There are a couple reasons you can get that "USB MSD Timed out after 20 seconds" issue. My first guess is that it's the Windows issue that some of our other customers have seen when writing our image from a Windows machine to their USB flash drive (not seen on all Win machines and not seen on Mac/Linux). Another reason could be that the power supply is incompatible (we discuss this in the FAQ). If you don't use the Axzez Interceptor OS, you can certainly follow the instructions of others on the OMV site. If you do this, you will not have access to our add-on boards for PoE, but it sounds like you might not be using that anyway. Do you have someone with a Mac or Linux box or perhaps you have a regular Raspberry Pi or I/O board that you can use to write our image to your USB flash drive?

To clarify: "we provide an imager that is a combination of a live boot to our image and an OS (our image) installer" - what I mean here is that this is all of our images. They all have this behavior.
